To Toronto

Only a couple of pictures for the day. I was a bit worried that the train would be delayed due to stormy weather descending on the east of Canada. The Canadian left the next morning so I would be in strife if I didn't make it to Toronto before nightfall. In the event it rained slightly leaving Montreal so I managed to outpace the weather.

But even before that I almost missed the train because I walked past the station entrance on René-Lévesque even though I had scouted it out the day of arrival. The problem was the rain in the morning made me wear my rain poncho, and I didn't want to take out my phone to check with GPS. Bad mistake. I retraced my steps, and this time found the easy-to-miss entrance with the help of GPS. Entrances are inconspicuous as they are well-shielded against winter weather. I made it to the train with 5 minutes to spare.

I had also decided to take a service with a change in Ottawa because all the promotion tickets for the direct train were sold out by the time I booked. So it took longer than the 5 hour direct train, with the detour and the stopover. This is Ottawa station. I had researched it beforehand and came prepared with my own lunch because there was only a cafe in the station, which is out in the middle of nowhere.

When I got to Toronto there was the usual hassle of negotiating the subway system. My Airbob lodgings required a transfer to the tram network. But fortunately my phone found a good ramen restaurant near my lodgings, and I had a good dinner at least.

After that I walked around the Chinatown district and bought some snacks for the transcontinental ride. A lot of people were out enjoying themselves because it was Saturday night.
