Breakfast found us looking out on plains instead of forests and lakes. During the night we had crossed the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border and would arrive at Saskatoon later that morning.
I was still in the first session for breakfast so this was taken around 7:30 am.
Here's a map of Saskatchewan. We are closing in on Watrous.
Around here the roads form a roughly rectangular grid due to the flat terrain.
Passing a freight train.
According to the leaflet this area is known for mineral hot springs. The Little Manitou Lake which is just north of the rail line allows floating similar to the Dead Sea. But we didn't see that as it's off the route. The grain silo confirms where we are.
About 9:30 am we arrived at Saskatoon Station and could alight to stretch our legs. The city is the capital of the province but small as cities go. What's more the station is on the outskirts.
The main train services are trains 1 and 2, which are the westbound and eastbound Canadian service respectively.
Not much to do but enjoy the fresh air.
Such a small station, such a long train.
Later in the afternoon we left Saskatchewan and crossed into Alberta.
