Jean-Talon Market

I wasn't meeting my friend until midday and I was waking up early due to the jet lag so I decided to visit Jean-Talon Market. I hadn't been to a North American farmers market since my days in Rochester, NY. I always enjoy the colour and variety at markets.

It was fairly easy to reach by the Montreal subway system. It has covered and uncovered sections.

Most colourful were the flower sellers.

Also available in bouquets ready to present.

More in the outdoor section.

Halloween was a few weeks away.

Huge specimens good for making heads.

Let's not forget the small ones.

And the non-orange ones.

Apples galore. I had arrived at the peak of the season. There were so many varieties that I had to look them up with my phone to know if they were good to eat.

I came away with a bag of (I think) Cortland, on the recommendation of the stall owner. I was eating them for a few days.

Maize and potatoes are also good here. I remembered that decades ago I tasted the freshest boiled maize ever bought from a farm stall and cooked on my propane stove.

A seafood shop. The lobster looked tempting.

Not forgetting oysters.
