Mont Royal

After lunch with my friend I walked over to Mont Royal which is a mountain in the city of Montreal providing outdoor recreation for residents. The last time I had visited was in the mid-80s. It was pretty much as I remembered it. Montrealers are lucky to have this piece of nature within city limits.

The weather was uncommonly warm for the time of year so I even got bitten by mosquitoes.

There were a lot of other people taking walks or doing outdoor sports. I didn't take many pictures there so this is taken at the end of my short walk, about to descend into the McGill University district.

The night before I had failed to find any soy milk at the supermarket. I reasoned that an Asian supermarket would be likely to have it so I found the Marche Newon on Ste. Catherine Ouest and indeed they had jugs in the fridge. But they also had a lot of remaindered moon cake from the recent festival.

I had missed the festival in my home city because I was on the road. The problem was I didn't want to buy those that came in a metal tin, as I didn't want to carry that with me. So I found a set that came in a cardboard box.

And these were the cakes in it. A bit on the dry side but at least I got to eat some. There were enough to last me a couple of days.

While in the supermarket I struck up a conversation with a Chinese lady. It turned out she was from Penang. She tries to go home every year during the Canadian winters which are quite severe.
